| A few years ago, some of us got together and started talking about the possibility of forming a local Rolling Thunder®, Inc. chapter. We had our first formal meeting in October 2004. Nine months later, in July 2005, we received our national chapter and became Rolling Thunder Wisconsin Chapter 3. Since our formation in 2005, we have been extremely active. We had aided a Korean War vet in obtaining his medals after almost 50 years. We have also helped disabled veterans with financial assistance at Christmas time. For the past three years, our major summer event has been our Scholarship for Heroes Ride, which works with the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation to award scholarships to area students who have chosen careers in the military. To date, the accomplishment we are most proud of is helping our local Vietnam Vets Chapter 224 with the rededication and relocation of the POW/MIA memorial to the front of the Brown County Courthouse, where it can proudly stand alone. We continue to strive to be the best by fulfilling Rolling Thunder’s mission statement, which is to publicize POW-MIA issues: To educate the public that many American prisoners of war were left behind after all previous wars and to help correct the past and to protect future veterans from being left behind should they become prisoners of war- missing in action. We are also committed to helping American veterans from all wars. Rolling Thunder, Inc. is a non-profit organization. Members donate their time because they believe in the issues we are working on. If you would like to join our chapter, or even just see what we’re about, feel free to attend one of our next monthly meetings or events, which are listed on the Events page of this site.
